Nuclear Transition Fund: 2026 call

The 2026 call for the Nuclear Transition Fund (FTN) opens for applications from 16 April 2026 until 22 May 2026 at 14:00 (peninsular Spain time). Grants support business projects in beneficiary municipalities around the Ascó and Vandellòs plants (PENTA I and II zones, up to 30 km), across six lines of action. Most lines envisage project execution between 1 January 2026 and 30 June 2027; Line 1 (investment) may run until 30/06/2027 (existing site) or 31/12/2028 (new establishment); Line 5 runs from the application date until 30/06/2027. The instrument stems from Law 5/2020 of 29 April and is governed by the published call/bases and applicable State aid rules.

Beneficiary Municipalities

All projects carried out in municipalities included in a circle no more than thirty kilometers in radius, concentric with the Ascó and Vandellòs nuclear power plants, can be beneficiaries.

Line 1
Industries & Premises

Grants for business investment projects

Investment in fixed assets: new establishment, new activity, expansion of capacity or improvement of the production process. Minimum eligible expenditure 100,000€. Competitive call.

Intensity: 15%-60% depending on company size and European regime (Minimis up to 300,000€; RGEC up to 2,000,000€). Deadlines: until 30/06/2027 (existing establishment) or 31/12/2028 (new establishment). 2026 call.

Employment

Grants for employment creation projects

Projects creating a minimum of 3 new jobs in one of the beneficiary municipalities of the Nuclear Transition Fund.

Intensity: 50%. Maximum per non-disadvantaged worker: €300,000; disadvantaged workers up to €5,500,000. Execution period: 1/1/2026 – 30/6/2027. 2026 call.

Strategy & Consulting

Grants for growth and new business opportunity projects

Three sub-lines: strategic change (business plan for a new opportunity), structural change (implementing the new business line) and talent attraction (qualified job creation).

Intensity: 75% for advisory services and staff; 20–10% for machinery. Maximum amount: €30,000 (3.1), €210,000 (3.2), €201,000 (3.3). Execution period: 1/1/2026 – 30/6/2027. 2026 call.

Cooperative Projects

Grants for cooperative projects

Competitive reinforcement projects between companies and support agents (clusters, technology centres, universities), coordinated by an ACCIÓ-accredited cluster. Minimum 3, maximum 8 participants.

Intensity: 75% (services, staff, coordination); 100% audit (max. €2,000). Max. expenditure: €200,000 per project; min. €10,000 per participant. Execution period: 1/1/2026 – 30/6/2027. 2026 call.

Startups

Grants for high value-added entrepreneurship projects

Small recently-incorporated companies (max. 36 months old) with an innovative, scalable or digital/ecological transition profile. Spin-offs from universities and research centres are accepted.

Intensity: 100% (GBER Art. 22). Maximum amount: €50,000. Eligible expenditure: €20,000 – €85,000. Execution period: application date – 30/6/2027. 2026 call.

Innovation

Grants for technological innovation projects

Applied technological innovation projects (TRL 7-9) promoting technological, digital and/or green transformation of companies. Minimum eligible expenditure: €25,000. Subcontracting up to 70%.

Intensity: 75% (external collaborations, equipment, software; de minimis); 100% audit (max. €1,500). Maximum grant: €150,000. Execution period: 1/1/2026 – 30/6/2027. 2026 call.
