The short answer
Closings in Vacly Accounting lock the period once it has been reviewed: journal entries are not edited by accident. Reopening is controlled. It does not replace the advisor and it does not turn P&L or the balance sheet into an official certificate.
Anyone searching for “accounting close period lock” has usually touched a March journal entry in April and had to rebuild the month. The work is to close when the queue has been seen, not when the calendar is tight.
Accounting pricing is on request, according to the modules you contract. 15-day trial. Validating lines lives in [journal entries](/blog/asientos-contables-revision-validacion). Closing the period is the next step, not the same one.
What does closing the period mean (and what does it lock)?
It is a working decision: the month has been reviewed. From then on, journal entries in that range are locked.
- You close when the period has been reviewed in [Closings](/producto/contabilidad/cierres). It does not close on its own on the 1st.
- Journal-entry lock: you avoid accidental edits to a line already validated.
- Controlled reopen: if something must be touched, you reopen on purpose. It is not an invisible padlock.
- It does not replace the advisor. Locking does not sign the annual accounts.
- P&L and the balance sheet stay indicative. Vacly’s close is not an official certificate.
When do you close, and what needs to be ready?
If you close with open proposals, you lock an incomplete month.
- The [journal-entry](/producto/contabilidad/asientos) queue has been reviewed. Validating line by line does not close the period.
- [Pre-accounting](/producto/contabilidad/precontabilidad) does not leave pending proposals that should still enter.
- You look at [P&L](/producto/contabilidad/balance-pyg) and the [balance sheet](/producto/contabilidad/balance) as a working snapshot, not as a seal.
- Period VAT is still tracked in [Tax](/producto/fiscal). Closing journal entries does not file the form.
- [Reconciliation](/producto/bancos/bancos-conciliacion) is another match. It does not replace this lock.
What is a controlled reopen?
The lock exists so you do not edit by mistake. Sometimes you must come back. That is recorded too.
Lock
The reviewed period is not touched by accident. That is the point of the close in Vacly.
Controlled reopen
If a correction is needed, you reopen on purpose. It is not a month “open to everyone”.
Not the official close
The advisor still signs. Vacly does not homologate and does not file accounts.
What is this screen not (and what should it not sell you)?
Closing is not filing, certifying or exporting.
- It does not validate for you. That lives in [journal entries](/blog/asientos-contables-revision-validacion).
- It does not certify [P&L](/blog/cuenta-perdidas-ganancias-periodo) or the [balance sheet](/blog/balance-situacion-fecha).
- It does not file with the AEAT. Tax is another screen.
- It does not build the file for a3, Holded or Sage. That is [export](/blog/exportar-asientos-programa-contable).
- It does not digitize invoices. The how-to is in the [digitization guide](/blog/digitalizar-facturas-precontabilidad-iva).
